Enjoy our new iPhone video tour of the forgotten corners of Comiskey and Wrigley Field

Chicago baseball fans are traditionally loyal to either the Cubs or White Sox. It’s a classic North Side vs. South Side rivalry that has lasted more than a century. This year’s Crosstown series is just over a week away with the first game to be played at U.S. Cellular on Monday, July 25th. For the occasion we have created a Crosstown Classics tour with Vamonde.

To view the tour:

1. On your iPhone, install Vamonde through the App Store (it’s free).
2. Open the Vamonde app.
3. Download the Crosstown Classic tour.

You’re all set! Enjoy!

Learn about the origins of the exploding scoreboard at Comiskey Park!

Vamonde is an urban storytelling app that empowers people to create local adventures through photos, videos, audio and text. They are partnering with local cultural organizations to create tours of Chicago history and culture that users download and explore on their mobile devices.

Explore the old Comiskey Park with Minnie Minoso!

In our tour, people can follow the tracks across town from old Comiskey to Wrigleyville on CTA’s Red Line and learn about the moments and landmarks that have inspired lasting emotions and allegiances from Chicago legends Minnie Miñoso and Bill Veeck. Visit both ballparks and see some of Media Burn’s favorite videos of Chicago greats, plus get a video to keep you company on the Red Line in between!

Learn about the political machinations that brought the Red Line down to 35th.

While we hope you can join us for the tour in Chicago, and visit the places where these videos were made, you can also do the tour virtually instead. Maybe you didn’t get tickets to the games or happen to be somewhere else in the world.

The tour is really fun and totally free. Unfortunately, as of yet it is only compatible with iPhone so hopefully you can find a friend with one if you’re not set up with one yourself!
