Remembering Wendy Apple

Wendy Apple -1975

Today, we honor the memory of Wendy Apple who died in Los Angeles this week.

She was a warm, talented, feisty, strong and intelligent woman. She was a pioneer artist as talented as anybody at shooting and editing video.

Wendy was originally from New York, but moved to L.A. in the 1970s to work with TVTV on a full time basis. She was never afraid to try new things or to mix with all kinds of people. She was a model for all early (and current) video innovators.

It’s unbelievable that she was OK last week and gone today.

For decades, Wendy was devoted to her students at USC, NYFA, CalArts and other places. She excelled as a professor, mentor and inspiration to many up and coming film and video editors.

This video was produced in 1989. Nancy Cain did it with Wendy in Beverly Hills with Pat Boone and Rev. Harald Bredesen. It’s the kind of revealing video many viewers came to expect from The 90’s and from Wendy (and Nancy).

(Please be sure to watch it to the end).

You can watch two longer versions of this piece in The 90’s Episode 102 and Episode 107.
