A musical tribute to the enigmatic Marilyn Monroe

This weekend, Lifetime will be showing the two-part miniseries The Secret Life of Marilyn Monroe, whose celebrity continues to fascinate long after her tragic death in the summer of 1962.

In 1988, Phoebe Legere, a performance artist with classical music training at the prestigious Julliard School, composed a song in tribute to her enigmatic idol. The music video, which we present below, was featured on an episode of Image Union and is now preserved in our archive.

You can also check out an interview with Phoebe Legere from The 90’s.

Since the video was a about Phoebe, you would never know Marilyn was her idol. Seems as though just about anyone can get into Julliard these days. What a pitiful excuse for a performance artist.
