Lotter says that in California, plastic surgery is more about competition whereas in Chicago, surgery is more for employment – people want to look younger to help them keep their jobs or find better ones. Lotter says that 40 percent of her patients are men, and the majority are gay or transsexual. She says that most of the transsexuals want to look like convincing women in order to keep their jobs. Lotter says that to look young, one must have both a facelift surgery and a chemical peel.
