This videotape is not yet digitized. Please email us to let us know you're interested in watching it, and we'll see if we're able to make it available online sooner.

This tape contains little footage that is not in the final cut. The only added material is more news coverage and an interview with a Channel 2 cameraman.

0:00 Assorted news coverage (extremely bad image quality).

9:55 Women sell souvenirs (Megan Williams?).

14:24 Interview with angry black cameraman. He is furious that the Optic Nerve crew is not affiliated with a commercial station. He says he is afraid of hippies because their actions lead to black people being killed. He thinks they might turn over their tape to the CIA, which will somehow lead to him being killed. He refuses to give his name, saying that they should just refer to him as “black man.”

19:50 The Phantom Dream Car. John F. Kennedy (Doug Hall) arrives and goes onstage.

21:20 Hall gives his speech. “What has gone wrong with America…the result of forces that have assumed control of the American system…These forces are: militarism, monopoly, and the mass media…Mass media monopolies control people by their control of information…and who can deny that we are nation addicted to television and the constant flow of media? And not a few of us are frustrated by this addiction. And I ask you, my fellow Americans: Haven’t you ever wanted to put your foot through your television?”

28:22 Kennedy is escorted to his car.

28:50 The drivers arrive and enter the Phantom Dream Car, then drive through the television sets.
