In anticipation of this Sunday, we pulled a few clips from the archive from TVTV’s coverage of the 1976 Super Bowl that highlight football’s intense physical labor and the effects it has on the body.

In the spirit of hilarious commercials, we also found some outlandish commercials from Chicagoan Bruce Bendinger’s April Fool Film Festival.

Lynn Swann Talks Multiple Concussions and Football Scars

Lynn Swann from the Pittsburgh Steelers talks about his scars, progressively bad concussions, and other injuries from playing the sport. Swann was a wide receiver for the Steelers from 1974 to 1982. 

John Fitzgerald Shows Off Surgery Scars and Broken Fingers

John Fitzgerald of the Dallas Cowboys talks about choosing to play football and his elbow injury, knee surgery, and crackling fingers. He says football is “hard work, you know, it’s physical labor.” He played center for the Cowboys from 1970 to 1981.
