10/12/18: Pop up Studs Terkel exhibit at Media Burn

Every October, Media Burn participates in Chicago Open Archives, an event that gives attendees a chance to get a behind-the-scenes look at collections and spaces not normally open to the public.

This year, we’re adding something special as part of the tour. We will be converting our back office into “Studs’ Place,” an exhibit that will display tapes, letters, books, and other items we received from Terkel’s home. None of these objects are usually accessible to the public.

Whether you’re a Studs super fan, want to hang out with us for an hour, or want to learn how to digitize videotapes, join us next Friday!

1995 note from Tom Snyder to Studs Terkel, from Terkel’s personal collection.

When: Friday October 12th, 2018, 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM

Location: 865 N. Sangamon, Suite 405, Chicago, IL 60642

Admission is free. No advance registration necessary.

Getting there: accessible via CTA blue line (Chicago stop), and the #8, 56, and 66 buses. There is free parking in our lot and on local streets, but it fills up, so leave extra time to look for parking. If the free spots are full, there is metered parking on Chicago and on Ogden.

See the Chicago Area Archivists website for more details.

To learn more, listen to executive director Sara Chapman talk about the event on the Chicago Open Archives podcast!
