Tom Palazzolo

Tom Palazzo

Description: This collection contains videos directed and produced by Tom Palazzolo, an experimental filmmaker whose often work largely documented local Chicago life and issues in American politics. Tom holds a BFA and an MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Our collection of Tom Palazzolo’s contains videos of LGBTQ pride parades, improvisational comedy, music festivals, and political protests, as well as footage of several events held in by the Illinois Democratic Party for senior citizens. On the surface, Tom’s films tend to present a humorous, offbeat, even dry tone, revealing easily overlooked ways of life and historical phenomena. A closer look tends to reveal its modus operandi: using humor to reveal, explain, or palate something which is often much more complex. His films have been featured by and in such organisations as the Gene Siskel Film Center, the Cannes Film Festival, the Whitney Museum for American Art, the Chicago Historical Society, and the Museum of Modern Art (New York).

Our complete collection of Tom’s work can be found here.
