[Once a Star : 1986 Old Timers’ Game clips]

This tape is a collection of clips from the 1986 Old Timers' Game between the '69 Chicago Cubs and the '69 New York Mets. In the footage, we see both the Cubs and Mets players make some great plays and some terrible errors. Harry Caray does commentary for the game.

01:06Copy video clip URL Cut to the actual game. Fergie Jenkins is pitching. Outfielder Tommie Agee of the NY Mets hits a ground ball to shortstop Don Kessinger who quickly throws Agee out at first base.

01:32Copy video clip URL Third baseman Paul Popovich misses a high pop fly near the right field line. Manager Leo Durocher proceeds to jokingly berate him for missing the catch. Infielder Glenn Beckert then hits a line drive to right field for a base hit. Outfielder Billy Williams then hits a fly ball to center field to get Beckert into scoring position. This eventually cuts into some footage of the Mets players making some great plays in the fourth inning. The Mets take the lead 8-3 in the bottom of the fourth inning.

08:04Copy video clip URL Cut to a collection of clips of Mets players trying to widen the lead. However, Mets player Buddy Harrelson misses a tag on home plate to end the inning. Later in the game, Mets Outfielder Ron Swaboda makes an impeccable catch to end an inning.
