On one hand, Grey is elated over the fact that Buchanan has nearly a thirty percent showing in Illinois. Grey had been hard at work on the campaign for several months, working out of his apartment 18 hours a day for much of time. However, Grey criticizes Buchanan’s national campaign for throwing all of their eggs in one basket and focusing on the state of Michigan in the Super Tuesday primaries. He also criticizes the national staff for not reimbursing his campaign office for even the bare essentials, like phone bills. Grey states that with his strategy and a little more money, he could have gotten Buchanan another 10% of the vote. Grey remains both perturbed and elated through the rest of the interview. He goes on to talk about his campaign strategy in great detail.

11:49Copy video clip URL Grey talks about his uncertain future. His work in the campaign has nearly bankrupted him. He says that receiving the call from Buchanan was nice, but a bit bizarre. “Thanks guys. You get a nice phone call. I think it was sincere, but au revoir! Okay! I’ll see you in the poor house.” Grey then talks about his hope to find a job to curb his debt. However, he remains proud of his accomplishments and states that he has “peace of mind.” After the interview, Wehling gathers footage of the party.
