03:15Copy video clip URL Bush urges the crowd in Thomasville, NC to elect Lauch Faircloth to the Senate. Bush attacks Governor Bill Clinton on the situation in Arkansas. He condemns frivolous lawsuits. Bush says that he and Barbara have been blessed but are still hurt to see people suffering. He says that he is running not because he needs the job but because he wants to remain in service of the country. A man in the audience says that Clinton has a decent chance at winning and that most people have already made up their minds.

Signs read “Bill, you’re just blowing smoke,” “Character Before Slickness,” and “Nobody Believes Clinton.” Bush opens by complimenting the governor of North Carolina. He says that Clinton will take money from those earning $25,000. He says that his tax breaks will create jobs and that they need access to foreign markets because “the worker from North Carolina can out-hustle any worker in the world.” Bush suggests an amendment to the Constitution that would require the government to keep the budget balanced. He charges Clinton with flip-flopping on a host of issues, saying “You can’t be the Waffle House if you want to be in the White House.” He says that Clinton is wrong in not seeing that the United States is the most respected, greatest nation on Earth.

24:59Copy video clip URL Bush visits the State Fair in Raleigh, NC. A lone Clinton supporter pushes to keep her sign visible. Governor-hopeful James Gardner introduces him. Bush speaks on the need for a strong executive branch and his pride of serving in the armed forces. He reiterates that the recession is a global affair and says that the United States is doing better than its counterparts. There are fireworks after his remarks.
