  • WTTW 1980-81 Season

    From the 1980-81 season, WTTW/Chicago’s magazine/booklet "Programs in National Distribution and Development."  This document features summaries and photos from shows on this season of WTTW, including John Callaway Interviews and Kup’s Show (Irv Kupcinet) in distribution.  In Development, there is a summary of the proposed show TV Postcards.

  • Rolling Stone: a TVTV production Edit Log

    Technical Notes, Edit Log, Glossary and Graphics List for the raw tape submitted for TVTV’s piece on Rolling Stone magazine.  Most of this document is the edit list, a sort of transcript of the submitted footage.

  • Halsted St. TV Show Notes

    Notes for what to say during the Halsted St. TV Show.  These are prompts that explain what to say and how to introduce the tapes.  Typed on Tom Weinberg TV-notepaper.

  • TV Postcards Summary and Staff List

    Summarizes the mission and leadership (Tom Weinberg and DeeDee Halleck) of TV Postcards, and presents a list of main contributors to the show and their credits, as well as other people likely to be involved. 

  • Budget Correspondence for Rolling Stone Piece

    Michael Shamberg (TVTV) replies to Carey Winfrey’s (WNET) earlier correspondence inviting him to present a budget for TVTV’s piece on Rolling Stone magazine.  Shamberg presents a budget and replies to Winfrey’s concerns about shooting ratio and tape format.  He also establishes his expectations for editorial control.

  • Rolling Stone Magazine Piece Correspondence

    Correspondence between Michael Shamberg (TVTV) and Carey Winfrey (WNET) about TVTV’s piece on Rolling Stone magazine.  Winfrey expresses interest in the piece and offers a 10-15 minute segment on Rolling Stone to TVTV, and goes through some technical aspects of how Shamberg should format the tape.

  • “Off the Air” Presented by Halsted St. TV Show

    A press release advertising "Off the Air," presented by Halsted St. TV Show, which describes the event and independent TV more generally.  The release quotes Weinberg and explains TVTV.

  • The Chicago Collection: Tapes from the Chicago Editing Center

    (Appears to be a draft.) Summaries of some of the tapes edited using the Chicago Editing Center.  The Center provided the means by which videomakers could edit tapes without buying all the necessary equipment.  Representative tapes are listed in what appears to be a draft of a press release, including tapes by Scott Jacobs, Valjean McLenighan and Tom Weinberg.
