One of the many incarnations of Punchline, a show that never came to fruition. The show features people from all over the country telling jokes on-camera.

1:00 Bill Visteen does intro, explains show.

1:35 Various people on the street tell jokes.

5:45 Einstein makes a joke and then Visteen tells a joke.

6:10 Break

6:25 Program resumes with more jokes. Dan Castenella tells first joke. Man tells joke about “Tattoo” from Pleasure Island. Herve Villachez reworks joke. Ronald Reagan thumbs his fingers at the camera, thinking the cameras are off.

9:50 Visteen introduces Morey Amsterdam.

10:20 Amsterdam talks about ethnic jokes with Rose Marie. Then they practice jokes on each other.

12:10 Einstein tells us we’re having a commercial break.

12:35 Program resumes. Visteen talks about the science of humor and introduces the National Humor Convention at Arizona State University.

13:15 Footage of Convention. Various people tell jokes in an effort to win a contest. The winner receives $16.

16:25 Visteen introduces segment about airports and the joy of returning home after a long trip.

16:55 Footage of people meeting loved ones at airports with awful smooth jazz soundtrack.

17:58 Einstein introduces commercial break.

18:10 Ad for Republic Airlines.

18:27 Joe Cummings performs joke with banana. Jokes about Beethoven.

20:50 Visteen introduces joke that they have been hearing all over the country about Michael Jackson. He encourages calls and gives the phone number.

21:44 Einstein shows clip of man crazily laughing.

22:02 Credits. Punchlines from previous jokes.

23:13 End of tape.
