The City and Its Memory : A Conversation

Bernard Reilly, former Center for Research Libraries President, facilitated a conversation with Chicago Collections members on the important role “memory institutions” (libraries, museums, archives) play in urban communities like Chicago, and the new cultural and digital realities that are reshaping that role today.

Panelists included:

Jeremy Bucher, Collection and Archives Manager, National Hellenic Museum

Sara Chapman, Executive Director, Media Burn Archive

Jorge Felix, Studio Arts, Exhibitions and Archive Program Director, Puerto Rican Arts Alliance

The event also featured the launch of CCC’s latest digital exhibit, introduced by its curator, Caroline Giannakopoulos, Project Archivist, Loyola University Chicago, Women and Leadership Archives. The exhibit is drawn from the collections of CCC member institutions and focuses on Chicago’s unique neighborhoods and communities.
