This tape is a compilation of wonderful soul performances from the 1960’s TV show, “Shindig!” James Brown performs “Please, Please, Please” and “Papa’s Got a Brand New Bag.” Tina Turner performs “A Fool In Love” by herself, “Money” and “I’ll Be Doggone” with Marvin Gaye. Marvin Gaye performs “Hitch Hike.” Booker T & the Mgs perform “Green Onions”. Joe Tex performs “Hold What You’ve Got.” Aretha Franklin performs “Rock-A-Bye Your Baby.” Two vintage commercials are included on the tape to remind us that “Shindig!” was brought to us “by the swingin’ cows and dairy farmers of the American Dairy Association” who remind us to “make it milk…OR VITALITY.”
Prologue Theatre’s 1991 musical production of Studs Terkel’s award-winning “The Good War.” Using a simple set and minimal props, the cast evokes myriad characters whose monologues voice the different perspectives of those alive during World War II, including American soldiers, German soldiers, nurses, teenagers, Japanese civilians, and scientists.
