This tape begins in the middle of the program “Newsmakers,” where Walter Jacobson is interviewing Dan Rostenkowski. After this program ends, the tape records news reports from several different Chicago stations (2, 5, & 7) on police sweeps at Cabrini Green following an outbreak of violence. While the police announced the raids a success, many residents questioned the move as being for show.
Raw tape #44 for Vito Marzullo documentary. Rakove transitions. Director Tom Weinberg talks with Milton Rakove, a professor of political science at the University of Illinois-Chicago and author who documented the Chicago political machine under Mayor Richard J. Daley. Weinberg coaxes sound bytes out of Rakove, used as transitions in the documentary’s final cut. They discuss Marzullo’s strengths and weaknesses, his day-to-day operations as part of the “machine” and how the Chicago City Council really governs.
Footage collected outside of Congressman Daniel Rostenkowski’s vacated office at 818 W. Fullerton. Rostenkowski was indicted on corruption charges and forced to step down in the mid-nineties. After this portion of the tape, there is about an hour’s worth of raw footage of the videomaker’s son, Jesse Weinberg, collecting interviews for a documentary on teenage smoking.
Raw footage for The 90’s election specials. Behind the scenes with the Clinton campaign after the first presidential debate between George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton, and Ross Perot at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. Particularly notable is an interview with Clinton Campaign Manager David Wilhelm. After this, videomaker Skip Blumberg travels to Little Rock, Arkansas, to check out Clinton’s national headquarters.

Campbell gives a speech emphasizing his dubious celebrity connections. Sawyer is confrontational, questioning many of Campbell’s claims. The tape ends right after Sawyer catches him in a lie about his connection to Roger Ebert.
