    Footage for the documentary “Voices of Cabrini.” Shot between 1995-1999, it documented the Cabrini-Green redevelopment project proposed and carried out by the city of Chicago. This tape features footage of Cabrini residents Charita and Lynette Havis. The two bring the filmmakers into their home to speak with them about the neighborhood and poor living conditions. Other family members and children talk about their way of life living in Cabrini. We also see video from inside the Robbins Barber Shop.

This tape documents the Pratt family at home. The children do a load of dishes in the kitchen, then read a story and play with the magnets in the kitchen. Mark Pratt folds clothes. The children play with their younger sister Myanna. One of the children does some homework.

In this tape, resident Mark Pratt gives a brief history of Cabrini Green. He talks about his family, growing up in Cabrini, security issues, future hopes to become a homeowner, living in Cabrini, and Cabrini demolition. The Pratt children talk about living in Cabrini Green, hopes for the future, hobbies, and daily happenings. The family is interviewed inside their home in Cabrini.

This tape includes two interviews with Mark Pratt outside on the common grounds of Cabrini and inside his home on December 17, 1995. He talks about resident protests against the Chicago Housing Authority and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, Cabrini Green’s community, the 1992 gang truce, growing up in Cabrini, the Robert E. Byrd Academy, his family, and the effects of the demolition project on residents.

This video features shots of newly-constructed town homes on Mohawk Avenue, poster board presentations from several private redevelopment contractors, and b-roll video shot in the Cabrini community on the Sedwick buildings parking lot and in front of the Cabrini row houses on Hudson Avenue.

    Footage for the documentary “Voices of Cabrini.” Shot between 1995-1999, it documented the Cabrini Green redevelopment project proposed and carried out by the City of Chicago. This video records interviews and conversation inside George Robbins’s barbershop at 456 W. Division Street. The final twenty minutes of the tape records the demolition of George Robbins’s barbershop.
